Drake Talks Grammy’s, London Artists and Beef in New Surprise Interview

The Toronto rapper delivered a surprising interview on Beats 1 with DJ Semtex and it was his most revealing in recent memory. Coming off a successful Grammy campaign where Drake won two awards, he critiqued the controversial awards ceremony mentioning “we’ve been conditioned to think that this (Grammys) is the true award for our accomplishments, for our music”

He also said, “Even though ‘Hotline Bling’ is not a rap song… the only category they can manage to fit me in is a rap category. Maybe because I’ve rapped in the past or because I’m black, I can’t figure out why.”

In this lengthy interview, Drake also spoke about his affinity with the London music scene declaring that ‘the best rappers in the world are in London’ and also highlights the similarities with Toronto. In addition, he mentions Giggs, Skepta, Sneakbo, Dave and AJ Tracey as artists who he listens to and has great relationships with.

Shedding light on his rise to the top with Semtex, Drake openly revisited his serious ‘beef’ with Meek Mill. He says “Meek Mill decided to create this narrative that I don’t write my own music” hinting that the Philly rapper was emotional because of an issue relating with Nicki Minaj.
